Welcome to Super-Spore. A family run mycology hobby turned business.
We have been sucked into mycology for almost 9 years now, we started out growing mushrooms for ourselves, as what could only be described before that, as a complete love for gardening, smallholding and self sufficiency. We always have loved growing and producing our own fresh and organic produce, and providing things for our family like our own eggs from our free range chickens, wine and beer from our home brewing hobby, fruit and vegetables from our garden and poly tunnel, so we figured why not add mushrooms to that list...
Back in 2013 we wondered why so many people who loved gardening (and were real dab hands at it) stayed away from mushroom cultivation as a hobby? We had heard many horror stories of it being nearly impossible to grow them and far too much hassle to even bother. Thankfully most of these stories are complete nonsense!
Over the next few years we started to grasp the full ins and outs of mycology we learnt about the importance of clean procedures as well as building up our equipment over time, We eventually got so much into the hobby we upgraded to a professional lab set up and laminar flow hood in a purpose built outbuilding. Step forward to 2018 - We decided it would be silly not to provide others with access to our extensive species bank we had collected over so many years in the hobby. We decided to see if anyone would like to purchase some of our collected species in the form of liquid mushroom cultures on a popular online auction site. What started out as an interest all those years ago, unbeknown to us at the time, was the beginning of our new business venture.
This website is a labour of love, its taken us a long time to get it to the point where we felt we could publish it live online. However this site represents an expansion of that online auction site presence. After many happy sales on that auction site and very proud owners of an outstanding five star in all category - 100% positive feedback over 900 customer strong.
We decided that we needed our own online place to call home. Somewhere where we could express ourselves out with the ever tightening rules, regulations and restrictions about selling syringes and blunt needles on online auction sites... Super-Spore was born!
Our aim is to expand our shop over time, so please keep an eye out for new cultures, new and exciting equipment or products for sale. All have been tested and endorsed by ourselves, who have been in the hobby for a long time, nothing will be sold on this site that we don't use ourselves.
